Default Modify cup holder

So here’s a non-forscan modification question. My 2023 xlt has 2 cupholders in the center console, adjacent to the gear selector. There are 4 spring loaded fingers in the well that hold the bottles or cans or whatever pretty securely … once you get the bottle into the well. imho the spring on the fingers is too strong. Is there any way to loosen them, or remove the springs completely?

I think it’s actually a rubber band that encircles the fingers; I guess you could try a slightly larger diameter, or thinner band.

LOL, these holders can be a pain in the butt. My wife complains just about every time she puts a drink in.

Does anyone know where to buy that style if inserts for the cup holder in the center console? Everything flop around in those unless it a really big cup or bottle.

Ok this is a little sketchy but I dropped 5/16 nuts down in them to hold them back. Just push it in and drop them in. Has worked great for almost a year and easily reversable with a magnet. Jim

Kind of hard to see, I hold the plastic finger back and dropped a 5/16 nut in to hold it back. One of those what can I find easy that will fit things! Has saved wearing holes in my 32 ounce pop cups.

Update. I hav3 a box of 1/4-20 nuts, so i inserted 2 into the drink holder. I did two adjacent fingers … the ones at 12 and 3, and i left the ones at 6 and 9 alone. Works great. Neutering just 2 reduces the resistance enough so water bottles can be dropped in easily, but the other 2 still keep enough pressure so the bottles don’t flop around.
