Default Missing dust shield?

I don't know the technical name for it but, when looking under my '21 XLT, I learned it doesn't have the fiberboard panel that mounts to the frame under the rear of the engine. There's one under the front part but none is attached to the 4 mount points aft of that.

My '16 Lariat had them. I bought this '21 XLT used and didn't look at the time. I've had the oil changed at service centers until now. Maybe it didn't have one from the factory?

I know some people hate them and leave them off but I have to think that Ford installed them for a reason. They wouldn't spend the few dollars those cost unless it were necessary.

Not sure what the cut off was, but Ford stopped installing them. The new ones, like my 24 power boost do not have them from the factory. I installed the front & rear splash pans that are used on the earlier FX4 models. These are metal, not cheesy molded fabric diaper pads

Both my '21 and '22 have the splash/dust shield. It is about $200 from Ford. It was probably not reinstalled after an oil change or the bolt holes enlarged to the point the washers pulled thru and was flapping under the truck.

Common for them to be missing. Not sure when or why Ford stopped. My '23 didn't come with one.

It most likely ripped off by the previous owner, I haven’t done anything to my “diper”, it held up fine during the first winter, if it ain’t breaking, I aren’t fixing it. lol

The metal skid plates being bolted on, what is the access for changing oil?

Can you cite part numbers I can use as a cross-reference at a used parts source? I don't necessarily plan to buy them but want cost information to be able to decide. My interest is to prevent damage from highway debris, not offroad hazards. That's not a high likelihood, for sure, but the risk is not zero and could be problematic when towing our trailer cross-country.

I just checked more closely and see remnants of the old fiber panel on the rear mounting brackets. I still don't know if it was removed intentionally by previous owner or if maybe they or I hit a road hazard, but I do know one was installed by the factory.
