Default measuring offsets

I am REALLY itching to do a 2" front level on my 21, and move from the Sport 18s up to 20s with around a 33" tire. My goal is to try keeping MPG in the same neighborhood it is now, but getting a tire that doesn't spin in damp grass. (Don't ask why I am also adding front tow hooks to my 2wd since it is in the body shop)

I understand what offset is and what it means, but how do I go about figuring out what offset I want?

I think after hours of scrolling here, and looking at pictures.. that I am going to go with a 275/60/20 tire and am pretty set on the Goodyear Duratrac. I know they aren't a tire that everyone is smitten about like the Nitto or KO2, but I had them on one of my last trucks and had ZERO complaints about the ride or noise from them.

I don't have, fender flares and do not want them sticking out anymore than I have to. Rock chips down the side of the truck is not a look that I love. I am fine with minor trimming where necessary but also don't like the thought of cutting out any more than is needed.

Going up to a 20", changing to AT tyres and increasing to a 33" will all impact the MPG a little, as will lifting the front, but that one is really only speeds over i think 40ish.

You didn't mention anything about why you'd care about offsets in your plans or requirements, what's your question there?

not wanting tires sticking out and slinging rocks down the side of my truck. I don’t mind a little, but I’d like to stay flush

from what ive seen it seems that any wheel in a 9" width with somewhere around the +20 mm offset will yield you a "flush" fitment with a 12.5" wide tire. If I were you id go take a look in the " What have you done to your 14th gen today " thread and use the search function up top and just do a search for "+20mm offset" there are enough pics to give you a good idea of how it would look. Even at that offset you will still have a little bit of extra debris being thrown down the side of the truck but its not going to be terrible. Not like if you have a +0mm offset. Just for your sake and to help a little I will post a couple pics from there so you can see what it looks like. Ill let you handle the extra leg work.

+18mm offset with 12.5 wide tire.

picking the size I want is just as difficult..

The 305/55 looks good, but is it worth the extra cost when compared to a 275/60? There is a 1/4" height difference, and 1 1/4" width difference. On a 2wd truck that never really will leave the paved road, I think it all comes down to cost

^^^^^^^^Not to add the extra weight and subsequent MPG loss.

this! I average 23ish mpg... I drive 42 miles one way to work and only hit MAYBE 7 red lights. Most of it is straight highway. As much as I think I WANT the 305/55, it just doesn't seem like the right choice. I am going to look up the weight difference of each tire, and see if I can find the weight of the Sport 18's. If one option is within a few pounds, that will likely be the choice.
