Default Lug Nuts

In years past I have had a problem with swollen lug nuts...Wondering if I need to replace the lug nuts on my 2022 F150 or has Ford fixed that? They seem fine now..

As far as I’m aware, Ford still uses the two-piece nuts that have been problematic for some. I believe that the issues are worse for those in cold climates due to freeze-thaw cycles.

It certainly got me worried, but for all aftermarket log nut I’ve seen, reviews aren’t great. Some claim they rust after a season or two. Some claim powder cost came lose as wrench work on them. I also want chrome to match my rims but most I’ve seen are black. I’ve also seen someone claim the factory two piece log nuts have lasted 10+ years. I have a separate set of winter wheels and it’ll be twice a year that I take off/put on. No impact wrench, just breaker bar + torque wrench.

My 20 inch black sport wheel came with chromed nuts that I put black covers on. Why Ford didn't put black lug nuts and black exhaust tip on Sports package vehicles, we'll never know.

22 20” sport wheels here. I’ve rotated three times without any signs of deformation.

I use spline drives in the winter and put the factory ones in a sealed container with some wd40 to S
try and prevent the swelling. My 2020 ones are still good 4 years later.

I bought a set (black) from Lug Nut Guys. They look good, even after a few tire changes.

I never heard of swollen lug nuts until I had a flat and had to change to the spare. I'm here to tell ya, it was a cluster. All I had was the truck lug wrench. Had to get the wife to pick me up take me back home for tools to get them off. All on the side of a very busy highway in Austin. Needless to say, I went with Gorillas after that and have not had any more issues.
