Default Lug Nut Replacements

While I wait for my 2022 to be built I am passing the time ordering accessories. One of my favorite mods to my 2015 was to replace the terrible OEM Lug Nuts w/ Gorilla Lugs.

Has anyone done this on a 2021+ truck and if so do you know if the thread and lug sizes are the same as the past generations?

You'd think after over 100+ years, manufacturers would have lugnuts design optimized to stay tight for safety.

I believe they're M14x1.5. Not sure of the length; probably would be easiest to take an OEM nut off and measure. Err on the side of longer, as you wouldn't want one to bottom out. Too long and you risk catching them on rocks or other stationary objects off-road.

Mcgard lug nuts are a very popular alternative to Gorilla nuts. They're one of the only chrome or stainless nuts I've found that can withstand weekly hits with an impact wrench without chipping or deforming.

The size has not changed. I went with McGards this time. So far I like them better than the Gorillas I used on my last truck. We'll see how they look in the spring though.

Exactly what I needed. Thx.

Wonder if the dealer will mind if I take the Lugs off my 2015 before I trade it in lol.

I destroyed the original OEM lugs when taking them off the 15 so dont have them.

The dealer won't know and wouldn't care anyway. I would swap them out if I wanted to keep them. Maybe not worth it since you don't have the originals though.

I install tires at my shop some. Plus change wheel bearings and brakes all day long. Ive never seen an aftermarket lug nut that was better than OE. Nor have I seen an OE lug nut hurt by a proper fitting tool. Idk what is so bad about the OE nuts. I despise gorilla or white night. They look like hell a year later when the plating falls off. Or at least the ones I've used do. When I replace a stud and nut I try my best to use OE. Never had luck with the others. Plus there are a dozen different tapers and seen designs. Ive seen wheel hurt by aftermarket nuts that had a slightly different taper

Dodge did run some that would swell and bulge. Snap on Sells a 21.5 (or 22.5 maybe) lug not socket just for dodge. Lol. I have one.
