Default Local Hazard Information

Has anyone been able to activate the Local Hazard Information feature in the Connectivity screen? I have a 21 XLT 302A with built in nav and have all of the other connectivity features activated, but local hazard information is greyed out and can't get an explanation as to why. Ford deferred to FordPass but everything is activated on that side as well. It's a minor issue as the truck is great, but I am curious what it's there for or if it's waiting on a future update for utilization.

Mine shows local hazards (road construction).

Do you know if you live in an area that can get local hazard updates? The info comes largely from speed and camera monitoring systems in and near metropolitan areas. I wouldn't expect it to be greyed out, but maybe that's what sync does when there is no data available.

I commute in the ATL metro. I notice when running navigation it does provide traffic info, school zone, and construction alerts, yet the LHI is still greyed out.

LHI is only avaliable in Europe. It is a bug that it is showing up in NA vehicles. (Note, shows up in my wife's new Bronco Sport too.)

Holy ****. Freaking cool technology, but, not sure I want my vehicle talking to the cloud about my driving parameters. For now it may be just looking to see if you're emergency braking, or if your fog lights are on, but how long before it's reporting your speed to law enforcement so they can hand out tickets? Let your insurer know you regularly exceed 50% throttle or that you occasionally roll 4-way stops at 3am?

Hopefully that won't come to the US. Cameras already determine speed, and can also determine visibility. Just a matter of installing the software and making the data available publicly.

Every US F150 driver that uses the Fordpass app to remote start/stop, lock/unlock their truck is already sending all that information to the cloud.

Thank God I do not have FordPass enabled on my truck

Last I checked, FordPass wasn't tabulating speed data, just the 'black box' in the vehicle does that. The system in the UK is specifically monitoring speed info to communicate to other Ford vehicles. The cost associated with constantly being in cellular contact to provide said data is going to bump the cellular cost a lot, and Ford will certainly seek methods to remunerate for said cost. Do you think they can make some money back by selling the newly acquired speed data to insurance agencies and traffic enforcement?

Ford could just buy the speed info from Google or Apple. Both detect driving and will be happy sell that to OEMs and insurance companies alike. Big Brother is here......so unless you go old school (no cellphone, old vehicle without all the tech) you are probably screwed one way or another.
