Default Line X tailgate

Hi. I will be getting Line X on my truck bed. Was thinking about putting line X on the plastic part of the tailgate where the tape measure/ ruler part is. I don’t think I will be using it very much but will definitely be dragging camping and hunting equipment over it which will cause it to have scratches and deep gouges. Would you leave it just like it is or cover it up with Line X? I can already see a few small scratches from carrying my rifle case when I went to the range. Ty

i would leave it, line-x more than likely won't stick very well to that plastic

Interesting. I never thought about it not sticking well to that plastic piece.

that line-x needs a good substrate to stick to, they will sand your truck bed with i think either 180 or 220 grit sandpaper and then spray it, they cant spray it on shiny paint, no 'tooth' to stick too,

that plastic would be sanded down to nothing before it would be to that point

oh...and make sure they take the bed bolts out too prior to spraying, don't let them spray over those

What would the purpose of spraying the plastic be anyway?

i think long term that plastic piece will look bad. I think it will be full of scratches and gouges. I like to fish, hunt and camp with the family. Maybe once or twice a year I trim trees and load up the truck bed with the trunks and I feel like it will scratch up the plastic. Or maybe a pallet getting drug across that will damage it . On my last truck the Linux held up well to the abuse and showed no scratches or gouges.

I had the panel removed, tailgate line x'd and then the panel was reinstalled. I've been keep a piece of cardboard in the bed to cover the panel when I'm dragging items across it. OCD at this point, might go away after a year lol.

Yeah that could be a option. Some how I think that piece would cost $200-$300 from Ford. Lol
