Default LED Tailgate Light Strips

Any issues installing LED Tailgate Light Strips on a 2021 XLT? My particular truck has BLIS and 360 Copilot Asist 2.0 I think. Largely asking because I thought I saw some where that either the 15+ or 21+ trucks may have issues where the truck thinks it is towing because of the light strip being plugged a trailer light adapter. Also, any recommendations would be great, a cheap flexible one from Ambrothers/Amazon has served well for years on my 92 though I would want a non-flexible light strip.

You have to wire it directly to the tail light wiring. If you try to use the trailer plug it thinks you have a trailer hooked up.

Does anyone offer a Y-connector so you don’t have to splice?

What about T-tap connectors? I used them on my raptor grill for my 2020. They worked great.

believe I saw one from putco along with the Illuminated emblem for the tailgate.

What gets me is how splicing or a y adapter is any different to what the truck sees?

Putco’s quick connect harness doesn’t work on Ford’s with BLIS. So I guess it’s either T-tap or ask Boosted Grey Goose if he can make a harness.

LOL at people with lift kits, spacers, aftermarket wheels with zero offset, tuners, cai, oil cans, that worry about splicing a wire. 😂 😋

Wiring below (may have to click on the picture and enlarge it):
