Default Lane Keeping & Centering

Hello, picked up a 2022 F150 Lariat last month and have a question about lane centering and lane keeping. I assume the truck is working as designed, but curious to understand why it works the way it does. Just not understanding the reasoning and hoping someone can clarify for me.

If I enable adaptive cruise (and set it) and turn off lane centering it works as I would expect. Great!
If cruise control is not enabled, lane keeping assist works as expected. Great!

If I enable adaptive cruise control but dot not set the speed (so it's enabled, but not actually doing anything yet), lane keeping assist will not work. I don't understand why this is. Makes sense if adaptive cruise is enabled AND you have set the speed, that lane keeping wouldn't work while you have lane centering turned on, but I don't understand why Ford would disable lane keeping without actually having set a speed (and thus adaptive cruise and lane centering are not active).

Hope my question is clear. I'm just curious as to the logic of why lane keeping doesn't work, with adaptive cruise on, but not active.

Thx.
Ryan

Have you looked at the manual? Your post didn't indicate you had. It does go over several scenarios where lane centering or lane keeping will not work.

I will save you the time messing with the manual.

Lane Assist has 2 options in the menu. Alert only or assist. You have it set to assist, this is why it will work on its own.

Turning on Cruise does not activate it, it enables it. You need to set a speed for cruise to be active. Once active and if lane assist is enabled, you will have lane assist with cruise. No cruise set, no lane assist.

I have my lane assist set to alert only so will just rumble the steering wheel unless I enable cruise, then it will go lane assist.

I hope this helps...
