Default Keyless Entry

Do the 2021 trucks with keyless entry have it on both front and rear doors (lock/unlock)? Or just the fronts? Searched without luck. Wife’s Explorer Sport is just the fronts and it’s a PITA but new Expedition is both.

very curious myself on this one. Wonder if they have the higher trims the rear doors while the lower trims just have the fronts.

Haven't tested on '21, but '17 was just the front for the touch-sensitive pads. Most of the time it's a non-issue. Worse case you just have to grab the front handle first. I believe its the same for '21.

Another cost cutting measure. Also interesting article for the tin foil hat people. They know which features are being used and how often.

I guess I don't see it as a cost-cutting move, since the back doors haven't had it ever, have they?

I think the reality is that they do studies on how vehicles are used. Both from the standpoint of how often is the rear door opened by someone other than the driver, and, what's the likelihood that the driver uses these sensors instead of just hitting the unlock on his FOB?

My 2018 Fusion Energi has 4 doors and all have sensors. Sedans have people in the back more often than trucks, because trucks have a high usage among contractors that travel in smaller groups or alone.

So yes, it saves costs.

Well that’s extremely disappointing. Go spend $60k+ and only have it on the front doors when other cheaper Ford vehicles have them on both. Makes a big difference when you’re standing on a parking lot curb with a car seat in one hand and a toddler in the other. Having to grab the front first is a pain IMO, especially for my wife. And it’s even more annoying when it’s in tight parking spaces. First world problems I know........

Having to hold one toddler and items would have been nice to have it on back doors as well. Ohh well this is first as RAM and GM trucks have it on higher trims. Ford usually checks all the options boxes
