Default ipod Nano Compatibility

Hi all,
I've been trying to connect my 7th Gen ipod Nano via USB to my 2021 Platinum. However, the display on my ipod keeps saying "Unsupported Accessory"
Are the 2021s not supporting older ipods? I prefer the quality of USB audio. Pondering getting a new ipod Touch but wonder if I'll have the same issues.
Can anyone advise?

Thanks!

You could just put music on a usb drive. You can format it so it still will keep your library in playlists/albums/etc and you can still use all factory commands. I did this in my '08 Ford Edge pretty easily.

Since the vast majority of people stream from their phones manufacturers are designing their infotainment systems around wireless streaming.

I just picked up my truck last night and realized my iPod won’t work. I liked to use it over my iPhone to save battery. Also so far, the music selection controls on sync4 are horrible. Imho

I ended up putting my playlist on the smallest USB-C flash-drive I could find and just let it shuffle from there.

If you want the best sound quality to take advantage of the 18 speaker system you need actual audio files. Blue Tooth just ain't the same.

I used to just plug my iPod into the little compartment and leave it plugged in. The truck would recognize the audio source. Another really crappy thing....I can’t browse new music while driving...unbelievable. Of course I just grabbed my phone and hit shuffle there, but it’s apparently not allowed on the Sync4.

I had this problem with the Nano too, and spent hours talking with Ford tech support through FordPass. Just not compatible.

I ended up buying the iPod touch and that is supported and works. I have it permanently plugged into the USB-C drive in the center console and mounted it out of sight.

I got mine to work, but you cant search easily on the Sync4. Go to the phone setup as if you were going to add a new phone. Then when you do, it will see the Nano and you can pair. I have still ended up using my phone more because I can search on Sync, but I may try that iPod touch idea. The biggest issue with using your phone for BT is that it kills the battery much faster.

Hi,
I was just able to connect a ipod nano to my 2022 F150 by using bluetooth. I turned on bluetooth on the ipod and then added a bluetooth device on the sync 4 source screen. I hope this helps
