Default Intermittent Check Engine Light

I have a 22 SCRW PB with 26k miles. My check engine light has come on several times while driving. Although I’ve tried to get the truck in for service, each time I’ve called and headed out for the appointment the light goes out. When I get to the dealership the Service Writer says, if the lights not on there’s nothing we can do. The Ford app consistently says it’s related to the catalytic converter. The gas mileage has not dropped off, nor are there any other drivability problems. Is the dealers statement accurate about needing the light on to diag the problem? Appreciate your feedback.

Do you have a code reader? If so, capture the specific DTCs when the light is on.

If you have your Fordpass connected, I can check any DTC's your truck has recorded in the past 60 days with your VIN. The dealers can do that, too.

No, with PTS. This is my truck, for example. Any day with the yellow triangle is a day the truck recorded a DTC. If I click on the day, it will show me what DTC(s) were recorded that day.

With today’s technology I thought that would be the case. I do have FordPass connected. I’ll send you a private message with my vin number.

Full list sent to your email. I'll respond here so there is more info to the problem in case someone comes across this thread in the future searching for a similar issues. VIN has been blacked out for your privacy.

Partial list of DTC's below. Your truck has been recording DTC's related to the exhaust for 60 days +. While your dealer is able to see this same info, the codes would still need to be active at the time they connect your truck to FDRS to diagnose it. Without that, they will not be able to bill Ford for any labor. I am sure a good tech can look at this and figure out what needs to be done to fix your truck, but if he and the dealers are not getting paid for it, it presents an issue on the business side of things. It will be a matter of getting your truck there while the code is active.

By the way, I was not able to respond to your PM because you have them blocked.

Hopefully it's just a bad O2 sensor - seems odd that a cat would lose effectiveness at 26K miles.

It is both sides and he also has a camera module problem. I wonder if it is an electrical problem.

Yea, I agree. Maybe running a cat cleaner through the gas tank would help, too. I've never used one myself, but the techs here have told me they've use it all the time and it works.
