Default How to Lock with me in the bed?

I plan to sleep in my bed (pretty plush with Snugtop Cap and carpet bed liner) next week, while teaching a field geology course. How can I lock the cab if I am in the bed with the smart fob?

Command lock using the key fob? Command lock with FordPass? I can’t think of a reason either of those wouldn’t work.

I’ve never owned a topper… How do you close your topper while inside of it?

Make sure that you turn off the alarm via the head unit so you don’t wake everyone up because you jostled at night.

If you don't want the truck contacting the fob, you can always put aluminum foil around it.

Is this a trick question? Push the lock button on the fob?

Try it, it'll work. I have locked mine setting in the back seat with the fob, it'll work in the bed two.

When I first got my truck, a 2023 in December, I would walk past it withe the fob in my pocket and the doors would unlock and the steps would drop down. I was able to fix this by going into the settings but I can't remember which it is. Is this your issue? You should be able to lock the truck and be in the bed, if not then check the settings.

Good call, I've got all that turned off as I walk past it continually in shop.

I know I can lock the truck with the fob. But with the smart fob in the bed, I don't know if someone can walk up and unlock the truck with the handle touch system. (I will admit that I have not tried this). And thanks for the reminder about the alarm.

I can close both the tailgate and rear window from the inside (and open the window with an interior latch handle). next week I expect to have the window open, and use a custom screen I made.

Again the question is if someone can unlock and even start the truck since the smart fob is in the truck.
