Just don't buy a fully loaded out trailer. No need for a 35 ft with quad slide outs. Be reasonable and you'll easily be good with a WDH.

If you plan on keeping this truck 15 years I would go with the 5.0. Get 3.73 gears, the integrated trailer brake control, 36 gallon fuel tank, Rear e locker, and tow mirrors are nice too. Then whatever trim levels and luxury options you want. I have had both the Ecoboost and this is my second 5.0. They are both great engines and I put a lot of miles on both and once the Eco boost got over 145,000 miles on it I did notice the performance was dropping by the time I got another truck at 180,000 performance had really went down big time. The 5.0 on the other hand didn’t notice any real loss of performance up to 160,000 miles. I used both trucks for work and drove approximately 35-40,000 miles a year. If your someone that gets a new vehicle every few years or doesn’t run the hell out of it either motor is a great choice. If you plan on running it to the wheels fall off I’d recommend the 5.0

Did you perform the required maintenance? A fall off in performance isnt going to be for no reason. Turbo charged engines are hard on spark plugs, thats one thing that often gets overlooked.
As far as long term durability, I would pick the 2.7 over the 5.0. Its not really a knock to the 5.0, its just the 2.7 is a really well built engine.

Do the stock 5/0 or 3.5 EB max tow and don't fret about it.
Don't fret a 3.73 rear gear and the 5/0, lugging a engine doesn't get you any better fuel mileage.

Had a 19 701a max tow platinum that had 1620 payload with moon roof.
Had a 18 502a max tow Lariat that had a 1680 payload no moon roof.

20" tires are stock on the Platinum, with Max Tow you also get ALL the towing goodies.

Traded the 19 Platinum for a 21 XLT Power boost this is were the payload hit comes into factor, now have a 1640 payload rating.

Good luck, you will never regret getting max tow on your vehicle.

It was definitely turbo related issues which to be honest I’m impressed that they went that many miles before having issues but the truck had clearly lost its punch by the 160,000 mile mark. Forced induction is hard on a motor and generates a lot of heat and Turbos wear out. They 5.0 is not being taxed nearly as hard as that 2.7 to make its horsepower and the fuel mileage is about the same. The eco boost does make more torque but at high mileage that torque advantage was gone. I’m just saying if your the kind of person that keeps a vehicle a LONG time the less complicated normally aspirated engine will pay off in the long run

RE: "Less complicated" the 5.0 has more moving parts than the EcoBoost last I heard, and it's not like turbos are unproven for longevity, over the road trucks anyone? Borg warner knows how to make turbos.

How many miles were on the plugs?

I ordered a 2022 F150 Platinum and picked it up a couple of weeks ago. I really like it. My driving requirements are similar to what you posted. Mostly daily driving. Some road trips and want to pull a 6500 lb rv with 550 lb tongue weight few times a year. Below are my truck specs.
F150 Platinum Super crew 4 x 4 Carbonized Grey
3.5 ecoboost did not want the hybrid.
701a high package
Adaptive steering
ccd and on board scales
Max Tow package (Gives 3.55 locking rear end, backup assist, hd bumper, 36 gallon tank, brake controller, and i believe a few other things)
auto start stop delete
factory weather mats
Interior work surface
I did not get moonroof or spray bedliner
Payload sticker reads 1601
Truck drives very smooth and quiet. The ccd suspension adjusts the ride automatically depending on the mode i select. I usually drive in eco mode but have to admit sport mode is fun. Suspension tightens and power is great. A lot of torque. Acceleration is outstanding almost too much in sport mode definitely fun. Onboard scale is great tells me how much payload i have left. Automatically calibrated to the 1601 of my truck. I really like the truck alot you probably cant go wrong which ever way you go. Hope this helps.

The plugs were changed at least twice and it was a 2012 3.5 I’m not knocking your eco boost I’m just saying that it clearly was getting tired as it neared 200,000 miles. No codes no misfiring the turbos just did not seem nearly as crisp as when the truck was new. It had 188,000 miles on it when we sold it.

I'm looking to order a 2022 platinum F150 and can't decide what motor, what tow package and what axle ratio. My moto is buy once, cry once since I normally drive a truck for 15 + years but I don't know what to do on this one. I only drive between 50-100 miles per week mostly normal local commutes. I do pull a 4000 lb boat an hour and a half each way a couple times a month on top of that though. We also occasionally take the truck on 8-12 hour road trips on the interstate. I ran the specs on a V8 with max tow package and 3.73 gearing for pricing. I'm know that setup is not optimal for gas mileage but I don't want to undershoot, buy a camper in 3 years and have to regroup again. Any thoughts? I'm torn and the dealer is telling me he sells about 50/50 V6 turbo and V8 and that the tow packages are all over the place. I need some help.
I would just pay close attention to what they're actually including in the Tow Packages currently. If you look at the 2020 and 2022 Tow Guides, compare what the Trailer Tow (53a) comes with now to what it used to include (page#18?) It's not the same package. If you need a Tow Package, I would say get the Max Tow (53c), but last I heard that was dealing trucks up to 6-8 months.
Everyone has different preferences, needs, and priorities though. I don't want to push my priorities onto you. I agree with the other posters though in that, the Platinum is beautiful, my favorite trim to be honest, more than the Raptor. #1 reason I didn't buy it, I can't afford it. #2 my XLT is a more capable truck because it's curb weight is quite a bit less/has about 2,100 payload. Having said that, I'd happily trade with you if you get your Platinum, lol.
