Default Headlights keep going into auto on every start

I just picked up a 25 XLT today. When I left the dealer I swithched the headlights to off. When I restarted the truck the auto selection was lit up and they were on. I switched them off again and drove. Next start up they were back in auto. Every start up they go into auto.
I have the DRLs switched off in the computer. Am I missing something?

I tried searching but couldn't find any threads about this.

If this is true it's the stupidest thing I've ever seen on a vehicle.

What's even more stupid is people driving in the dark with no lights on

It's simple - dark out means turn your lights on. Raining- turn your lights on.

Driving isn't difficult. There are too many people on the road that don't know how to drive. They're clueless if their vehicle doesn't do things for them.

When you rotate the headlight control switch to off, it resets itself back to Auto? Hmm. Mine physical headlight control **** will stay in whatever mode I set it to but I do keep mine on Auto mode.

I have this switch...

I guess your's is this one????

I don't disagree with you, but what's the problem with the way the auto lights operate. You just wrote that too many people don't know how to drive. So Ford helps them by keeping their lights on in the dark and turning them off in the daytime. Sounds smart, not stupid.

The headlights are not on during the day, only the DRL, unless disabled. You will find that with rain sensing wipers, the headlights will also come on after several frequent wipes of the window and turn off when the wipers are not longer needed. I think it’s a plus not having to activate the headlights when needed.

Even though I don't agree with it, I understand why.
My problem is that I park facing my house every night. Sometimes I leave for work at 4am or around midnight which means my headlights will shine into the house when the truck starts.
There's no federal law here(unlike Canada) that mandates this. Ford did this on there own so they should provide a way to deactivate it.
Must just be me but I'm sick of stupid people ruining things for those of us with common sense.
