Halogen upgrades
I've searched for headlight upgrades but find only LED topics. (Let's not debate the value or quality of LED replacements here.) I want to stay with halogens but improve the level of light some. I understand that brighter halogen lights come at the cost of shorter life.
My vague plans are:
Low: Philips Vision Plus H11. Moderate cost, "60% more vision" (whatever that means), somewhat warm color at "up to 3000K". Good quality competitors are certainly acceptable.
High: Philips X-tremeVision 9005. Somewhat higher cost, "100% more light", 3400K. A whiter light would be good, too.
Fog: 9145. Prefer warmer color temp but not yellow. I think I recall seeming somewhere that the 9005 high beam can be recycled as fog light by modifying the connector slightly. Would that result in a brighter light? If not, do you have another suggestion for improvement?
I appreciate any recommendations for alternatives to the above plan.
Suggestions for brighter halogen bulbs for brake, reverse and CHMSL lights are appreciated. (Is the latter already LED?) Those aren't a priority but I am considering changing those, too.

Sylvania is a good alternative and you can find them locally.

Thanks. It was using the 9005s as fog lights that I recalled vaguely but couldn't find. Does doing that require modification? I have no problem taking a Dremel to a bulb I'd be disposing of, anyway, if I screw up.
As for replacing H11s with H9s, the H11s appear to have an opaque cap but the H9s don't. Wouldn't that make a difference in appearance and projection? If not, why not? Why would they put the opaque cap on it if it doesn't have an effect?

I put in the F150LEDS and it is incredible how good they are compared to Halogens. On my 07 Silverado i tried all different Halogens and nothing did much as far as seeing better. AUXITO also makes good LED bulbs that are cheaper than F150LEDS and people say they are just as good. I wouldn't waste your money on Halogens that barely improve brightness.
I did the halogen swap first. Wasn't worth the effort, as the light improvement was negligible. Keep in mind I have a 2015, and the halogen optics were absolutely abysmal.
I then swapped to LED drop ins and it was night and day difference. Today's good drop in LEDs simply work and don't scatter light like those from 10 years ago. You really should check out the Headlight Revolution evaluations if you seriously want more light on the road, but it's your choice.
