So my 23 did not come with the tailgate ladder. Any recommendations for something to purchase to help get into the box? Some type of gadget to fit in the covered hole to grab or put your hand in on the box rail to help pull yourself up? An aftermarket step that doesn’t bolt on top of the end gate that prevents sliding things in? I’ve seen all these $50 ladders on Amazon, but there’s got so be something better. I sure do miss that built in ladder.

 

Amp research has a step on the side so you can use it with the talegate in down position. too expensive IMO but it works.

 

I had a bestop branded one on my 2018 and it was a godsend. Super easy to deploy with your foot. I called it my "fatman step" lol. My new 23 has the tailgate step, but I still may get the folding corner step again for ease of use. markwang is right though, they are very pricey for what they are. But super handy.

 

I know some will laugh but this folding step stool is what I've been using in my 2021 F150 4x4:
I've used as much just for sitting around at events too.

 

There is also a flip out little ladder that folds against the tailgate and flips out to the side when the tailgate is lowered. I have the Amp step on mine. It's great.

I had the stripper pole on a few trucks and really liked it. My current truck doesn't have it.

I tend to sit on the gate and swing my legs up and then stand up.

I wish Ford had the little step in the corner of the bumper like the Bow Tie does. I noticed it on a a F250 the other day maybe they will bring it to the F150.

I might look at the Amp step but the cost might just say keep using my butt.
