One thing I haven't been able to nail down is what different engine levels get you, since you get the larger axle and GVWR by getting the PowerBoost, does it automatically get any other upgrades like the Heavy Duty level brake package or whatever. The screenshot above doesn't seem to identify that you get the 7-Pin Harness and Class IV receiver with a Lariat also (although it noted the Tailgate LED), and you get the E-Locking Rear Axle with the PB as well. So from the main Ford guide, only thing missing on a Lariat PB from Max Tow is the upgraded bumper, but of course there may be brake differences also. It really blows how hard they make it to find out.

Guess I'll still get the truck even if it doesn't have MAX tow. 11200 isn't too shabby for towing.

My understanding from what I read somewhere in Ford info was "max towing" has a different rear end that has floating axles (like F250 on up) but were built especially for the new F150 as the bigger trucks rear ends are very heavy. The bearings are beefier and brakes larger. Also truck frame has been beefed up in certain areas and a different huskier driveshaft is used. I verified this with my dealer when I ordered my Lariat Powerboost. You have to be a detective to figure out all the differences in the packages. I didnt want stiff rear springs as I tow maybe 7,000 # at most so I ordered the other tow packages. Got everything offered except max tow, big "moose ear" trailer mirrors, and block heater. Portland, Oregon has mild winters......lol

Are you saying a Powerboost without max tow package automatically gets the new floating axle with bigger brakes, beefed up truck frame, and different drive shaft as is shown for max tow package ? Interesting! Must be that 570 ft lbs of torque is too much for the regular conventional rear ends.

Honestly Ford isn't real good about covering everything like you get the new full floating rear axle on ALL Powerboost and the versions of Max Tow that get the 4150 RAWR like the Screw 157 3.5EB and all HDPP. The Max Tow 145 3.5 EB I looked at didn't have it.

What is the full floating rear axle? I do wish ford was better about listing all this stuff.

I got the 3.5 Max Tow 145. I'm rated to tow 13,900lbs according to the Ford. I know that's just 100 pounds off the maximum for the model year so I'm happy with that. But what am I missing out on not having that axle?
So all powerboosts are automatically equipped with new beefy floating axle, heavy duty driveshaft, and reinforced frame just like "max tow" package? So only thing missing is stouter rear springs and different bumper......crazy!

Yeah, it's been down for about a month, was covered in this thread quite a bit. Ford claims they took it down to make improvements, but it's been a while.

There is also a "Needs Assessment Calculator" but I'm finding it is inaccurate or just flat out wrong.

Make sure you're using Tor Browser and your computer is updated. If that doesn't work, try rereading the thread again.
