Has anyone purchased or used one of flood fords esp warranties?

 

Yes and yes The DIY'ers here will say they are a waste, others here like my self would not own one of these newer trucks without one long term. Many posts here about this, get ready for the backlash for not searching! LOL!

 

Bought my ESP from Flood on March 1. 2020 to cover my 2016 XLT. Made my first claim two week ago. The rear windows defroster died. Since the problem is electrical, it was covered. Dealer had to replace the whole rear windows. My cost was only the $50.00 deductible. The total cost on without ESP was over $1,100. This almost paid for the ESP. One more claim and I'll be ahead. Not that I'm looking for a problem to occur.

I will vouch for Flood Ford. Upstanding company and very quick with communication.

I bought an extended warranty for my 2018 last May right before I had it a year. Fast forward to August with the crazy Carvana values and I sold it. I filled out the online form to cancel the ESP and I had my refund check in less than a week. They will definitely be getting my business again when I purchase a 21/22.

 

IF you're going to purchase an ESP for a new truck, NEVER purchase one until just before the factory warranty is about to expire.

My understanding is that this is not good advice.

What others have explained is that the "extended" definition is that it is BEYOND the manufacturer warranty, which is, say, 36k miles or 3 years (or something like that?). So you cannot even buy an ESP for less than that. If you buy a 4 year 48k mile ESP, you are really buying one year/12k miles of warranty. It works in conjunction with the manufacturer warranty, I think...

Now the reason to get it when you buy the car is to lock in at *today's* rates. On the drop down menu page of Flood's page for example, it says: "Pricing good thru 1/5/2021. Ford's 2021 pricing increase(+5%) comes 1/6/2021." So if you want out 3 years, you could be compounding three 5% price increases, and still get the same amount of coverage.

Experts (or Flood) please correct me if I'm way off base here!

 

Another vote for Flood. I got my first ESP ever from them a few months back as my bumper to bumper expires next week.

Very easy to work with.

But yes, Ford does the extended warranties from initial in service date. So the warranty I bought is 6 years and 60,000 miles total. This results in 3 additional years of coverage and 24,000 miles additional over the original bumper to bumper coverage.

Not sure when the best time to buy is. I know mine was $720 for the extra coverage just a few months before my original bumper to bumper expired.

I waited to buy the ESP because I wasn't sure I was kept this truck that long.

Just have to decide what is right for you.
