Default First Road Trip Stats

This past weekend I drove round trip from Denver to Fort Worth, TX. Trip 2 is the round trip and Trip 1 is after filling up on the on the drive back. I averaged 18.5 mpg with a strong head wind for about 3/4 of the trip.On the drive back with no wind I averaged 20 mpg. I have the 3.5 ecoboost 4x4 screw with the max trailer towing package.

Good info....

A couple questions - what kind of speeds were you driving and what axle ratio do you have?

Is this your first Eco boost?

Im thinking about getting one. Ive always bought V8 5.0 and 5.4, but the fuel economy isnt the same as the Eco.

Seems about right. If you add bigger tires, etc it will drop 1-3 mpg. If this were a 2.7 you’d add 2-3 mpg to your numbers.

If you want better MPGs, slow down. Drive a measured mile at 70, then 65, then 60, then 55 and note the dramatic increase in MPG as you get slower.

I traded in my 2018 4x4 screw with the 2.7 ecoboost and 65k miles. I was happy with the 2.7 for my driving. Pulled a 6x12 loaded uhaul to Virginia and back twice and there was plenty of power. There is a big difference between the 2.7 and the 3.5 in power and torque. The 3.5 feels smoother too.

Agree. I had the 2.7 in my 2018 and did average 2 to 3 mpg more.
