Default Ferry and AC

We go on ferry a lot to cross over to an island. 20 min ride.

The drive to the ferry is highway 30 miles.

I am looking at the Hybrid. So the drive there should give plenty of time to fill up the battery.

While on the ferry for 20 min, it can get hot via sun. Can the F150 Hybrid run AC during that time without starting the engine? Ferry doesn’t allow for engine to be on during the 20 min trip.

Thanks in advance.

Depending on how hot it is outside and what temp you set climate control to, you may make it the whole trip, but it would be close. You're best bet to have a fully charged hybrid battery would be to put it in sport mode ~5 min before you get on the ferry and leave it there until you need to shut the truck off, then switch back to normal. That should get the hybrid battery in the 63-66% charge range.

Don't do what my wife did on our van. She had engine off, ran the DVD for the kids and flattened the battery..... Had to get a jump start....

Why not go buy a jackery or something that can run a portable DVD player or a cheap tablet??

Won't solve the cooling but would keep the kids entertained.

my question is only regarding AC on battery. I don’t know how other topics got thrown in.

No it will not run the AC for any long period of time. The battery charges up very quickly and empties quite fast as well. Mine will usually run the AC though a red light or stop sign. A bigger battery would be great.

It is all in the name POWER BOOST. It is not truly a reserve power source with the engine off.

A Lighting with a extended range battery maybe your answer.
