I have a 2023 ford f150 and I would like to get the front windows tinted. I want them to match as close to the 2nd row of windows, but what is the factor % tint? I asked two shops and they said two different %.

 

If a shop cant show you what they intend to match it with for comparison, I would go elsewhere.

 

I believe that the rear windows come with 22% VLT. It should be marked on the bottom of the glass.

 

I think this is right about dead on.

 

I had my two fronts done with quality (I dont know the brand) 20% "smoke" tint. From the outside in, I cant tell the difference front to rear. From the inside, the rears appear lighter with a more amber hue to them. My 2013 F150 screw fronts were tinted with what I was told was 25%. They were externally and internally visibly lighter than the rears. 20% is certainly close to the rear percentage and almost any tint shop will have that on the shelf. Any professional tinter will know what will match best, but dont expect it to be perfect.

 

If you want superior heat rejection go with ceramic. I didn’t want to go too dark so I went 50% front and 30% rear and back and it looks great to my eye.

 

My uncle runs a tint, ceramic coating, and detailing business. I help him out from time to time when he gets swamped. Reputable shops will have a meter they can measure the factory glass to match it up with. He used quality Max Pro and Suntek window films. Usually it would be somewhere around 18-20% if my memory serves me correct.

 

I have always read that the rear glass is not really tinted in the sense that it offers heat rejection. It's just privacy tint. So when I did mine I had real tint applied to all the doors and the back glass. In my state the front windows have to be compliant with the state laws. So I do whatever that is. Then on the rear doors and back glass I go one step darker just because I can and it helps a little more with heat rejection. I am almost 60 so not a kid but I think it looks so good to me. The contrast on a light colored vehicle like this and the tinted windows really looks good to me.

 

Took mine into a local shop that I've taken all my trucks to. Owner asked if I wanted ceramic or regular tinting. I said, use whatever you use on your vehicle. That was it. Didn't even think to ask about matching because it's never been an issue. 45 minutes later and $120 lighter, I was on my way. The owner said business was way down lately because of the economy.

 

15% is what you want.
