Level of return,, actually Phy gold and silver have given a much better rate of return.. As far as solar , if your not off grid then why bother, Better rate of Dollar return elsewhere.. Off grid in city. stand alone system.. too many people have their lights go out when the power goes out ,, totally baffled when that happens to come to me and ask to borrow my 6.5 KW GAS generator.. And power goes out quite a bit in California.. for days.. sure their pay back is this or that..but not a stand alone system .. we need better storage of power.. thats coming soon rather than later i hope

Default F150 Lightning

Any guess if the new F150 Lightning will be available as a Regular Cab?
The Regular Cab only has XL & XLT
Everything above XLT you need to get bigger than a Regular Cab.

So the real question is:
Will "Lightning" be a powertrain option?
or
Will "Lightning" be a Trim Level?

or
Will "Lightning" be a Trim Level?

Lightning will be Electric, so it will be in its own Category like the Mustang Mach E

I think it will be a Powertrain option, available only on certain Trim Levels.
Just like the :
3.5L PowerBoost™ Full Hybrid V6

No, it will be a trim level, like Limited/Lariat/Raptor. It's being built in its own factory and requires entirely different undercarriage components like coil rear shocks and a different frame structure/skateboard setup. It will be more like the Tremor I suspect where the package levels can be matched to the different standard F-150 trim levels (400a = STX, 401a = XLT 302a, 402a = Lariat 502a, etc).

About no chance of a regular cab, and less than no chance of a short bed even if regular cab was an option. They are going to be limited due to battery storage requirements so in the interest of cutting down on multiple configurations (they would have to do different high voltage routing for each cab style), my guess is it will either JUST be Crew Cab 5.5' bed, or if they offer another cab it will be SCAB with 6.5' bed.

The lightning name is being reused because it makes sense for an EV pickup, it isn't Ford's intent to remake the old Lightning street pickup. It will for sure be fast, or have a fast variant, but any other comparison is likely to be irrelevant.

Time will tell though.

Like siber express stated Lightning is going to be the name of the new EV pickup. No more ICE Lightning. Ford will have to come up with a new name for a performance truck, if they bother to build one. I kind of doubt it.

It's being built in Dearborn. That means no regular cab and no 8 foot box. I have no direct knowledge, but I would also suspect that they will initially only offer it in Crew Cab at launch.

If Powerboost is a Powertrain option - Why would Electric "Lightning" be a trim level.
And
Where would it fit in the range?
XL
XLT
Lariat
King Ranch
?? LIGHTNING ??
Platinum
Limited

** I dont think it will be a trim level, I think it will be a Powertrain option on Lariat and above.

Powerboost can be added to any trim level. The Lighting will share very little with the ICE truck.

I wouldn't even consider it a trim level. I consider it its own entity.
