I've never had them. my theory is it is in place to keep dent/chips away from leading edge of hood so the hood would look better in the long run, but in order for that to happen, a bug deflector is required to make it immediately look worse. lol

For your reading pleasure...this opinion says basically they might work and they might not, depending on design, and since aesthetics are in the eye of the beholder each will have to decide for her/him self.

I prefer fewer paint chips and the ones stylized to the shape of the front of the hood look OK so I use them. If others don't like them, I really don't care and no one is going to force them to put them on their vehicle.

I think these days PPF is a better option.

I put one on my 2015 right after purchase. It's still there and hasn't created any issues. I like them, and they keep the whole hood and bottom of the windshield from getting rock hits. YMMV 🤷

I did not put one on my first truck, month later large stone dent on the leading edge of the Hood,
My 2021 has one, my son has one
Mine came with the truck its a surface mounted version as seen in the attached photo, and would definitely recommend one.

Fixed.

I had one on my Sierra but opted not to get one this time. I am not even sure they make one for the BAP hood anyway.
