Dears, i'm pretty new to Ford & this thread as well so please accept my apologize if this have been discussed elsewhere. I live in UAE and for some reason the dealer disabled the WIFI feature (to update remotely my vehicle). Is there a way to enable this feature back ? I've read some articles about FORScan but don't know if it's capable enabling it or not. Any advise will here ? Thank you,

I have enabled the option on the screen through forscan yes, the icon shows, but it doesnt allow you to use it! I dont realy remember what message i got when i tried to tap it, but it was useless. So I disabled it again.

It’s a Lariat 2021 , the point is that i cannot even find the updates via the Ford site as it always says error. It doesn’t make sense to visit the dealership each time an update is out!

 

I know what u mean, but this feature is deactivated for our region, i beleive its server related, but this is an advantage when the tune is going to be avilable soon for 2021+ trucks as ford cannot override your tune over the air with their updates 😁

I’m sure it can be enabled with ForScan easily unless if they physically disconnected the TCU from the APIM. I can see why they might do this for exports overseas. For example the software licensing may not extend to owners outside of North America, the content available in updates may conflict with regional driving regulations, whatever the reason I’m sure it was the legal department at Ford that decided it.

1. I’m curious what exactly was done to disable it. If it is a physical mod, programming mod or both. It is reversible either way.

2. You aren’t missing anything. Sync 4 is lousy for those of us in North America. It has lots of issues for lots of owners (just read these forums), there’s no updates for it yet… Actually there is an update for it, but Ford hasn’t distributed the files in a public OTA update yet.

3. Ford Pass Connect (remote app control), Sync 4 Wifi connectivity for OTA updates, Wireless App Projection and the Sync 4 hotspot feature use separate modules and antenna for different reasons. They are easy to mix up in conversation.

If you’re actually asking about Ford Pass Connect or the wifi hotspot, there’s other reasons that would be disabled, such as your regional cellular network providers not supporting those LTE bands. Just something to consider.

If your biggest concern is not getting Sync 4 updates. I advise your best option for now is to do nothing and wait until FMods releases instructions on how to jailbreak it.

 

I found the wifi icon but when searching you can’t find any network. My main concern is updates so i’ll wait for Forscan or FMods to release it 😊
