Good evening everyone, hope all are well. I purchased a new 2021 F-150, Super Crew, STX, 2.7, 2WD. I bought the truck in mid Sept and absolutely love it. I have taken 3 trips in it so far, 2 up to Michigan and Wisconsin from here in Florida, and one out to Colorado. Probably the most comfortable truck I have ever owned and I've had a lot of trucks with a lot of traveling. When it's not pulling anything I am getting up to 24 MPG and towing a 6000 lb Travel Trailer back from Green Bay last week I got between 8 - 10 MPG. On the trip to Colorado the instrument cluster froze up, I couldn't use the digital speedometer or change any of settings. The gauges worked but it wasn't giving me any other info. I took it to the dealer and they changed the instrument cluster. The odometer went to the real reading that was supposed to be there. The dealer also installed a trailer brake controller and programmed it. I took off for Wisconsin to pick up my new trailer and everything was working fine. I pulled in to a rest area around midnight to grab a couple hours sleep, locked the truck and went in the camper. The alarm started going off every couple minutes. After this happening several times I finally unhooked the power cord going to the truck and it stopped. The next day it did it every time I stopped at a rest area to eat. I also noticed that there is only 1 trip odometer on the dash now. The next thing is the flasher on the left side blink very fast even though the lights are blinking at a normal speed. The lights are all working fine and it was doing it with the trailer hooked and unhooked. It's at the dealer now and they are looking at it. Oh well, maybe the chips they are getting aren't any good. Any of you guys having similar issues ? Thanks, boomer
Kd - The truck went back to the dealer a couple times and so far the directional issue seems fine. I only had the trailer hooked up once a couple weeks ago and I didn't have any issues then. I only towed it for 40 miles then left it at a new storage facility. I never locked the truck while the truck and trailer were hooked up. The dealer told me there was an upgrade coming out in February that might be a cure. I will be leaving with it for a week on New Years day so I'll see how it is. This will be it's first trip with the trailer loaded with clothes, water, food, wife, etc. It will be a test on how the 2.7 works also. I plan on a lot of trips with this combo so if the truck doesn't perform, the dealer has an identical one coming soon that was just built yesterday. It's got the 3.5 and the ultimate tow package so I'll look in to that if this one doesn't do it. I'll keep you posted, Merry Christmas to you and your family, boomer.

Thanks for the reply. I towed a 4,000 lb single axle travel trailer from Tennessee to Florida and back with my 18 2.7 and it had plenty of power. My 18 displayed transmission temp, so I kept an eye on that. It never got above 210, which is only about 7 degrees above a long trip without a trailer. The limiting factor is rear axle weight. I was only 200 under rear gawr.
Boomer, did you ever get yours sorted out and what was the cure if so?
I'm experiencing very similar things after Kendall Ford in Meridian ID updated my sync and 'some other stuff' July 15th (6 visits due to backordered electronic components). Mine will give odd faults like brake/blinker faults and/or not activate the trailer brakes. After disconnected it takes 6-11 miles before the truck figures out that there isn't a trailer connected. Until then the blinkers are bonkers and I get lots of notifications on the dash regarding lights, brakes, doors, etc.
Great information, after reading this I realized that the problem with my 2019 F150 2.7 is similar and the plugs only had 21K on them. It was always bucking under acceleration but the service engine light did not come on. I used a cheap code reader and noted plugs #2 & #5 were misfiring. The truck has 123K on it but the plugs are much more recent. Assuming there could be defective plugs, I picked up a new set of ford plugs & proceeded with the fiddly task of changing them. I noticed that the 2 misfiring plugs had black spots on the porcelain where they may have been arcing.
The new plugs totally corrected the problem. I thought I would share this with others because I am obviously not the only one with this problem.

You might want to go back in and replace the boots on the COPS also.
Thank you for the information regarding the boots. I did look at them & didn't notice any defects but since I had not picked up new ones they were not replaced. I will be monitoring this to see if the problem reoccurs & that may be next if it does. If that is the situation I will post it for others.
