Default Drivetrain differences

Is there any difference in diffs, trans, axles, etc between 2.7 ecoboost and the Supercharged 5.0s? Xl and xlt models?

Yes, there are differences in the rear axle. The 2.7 has the 8.8, the 5.0 and Powerboost have the 9.75.

Thanks, in a 4x4 does the front diff also get upgraded or do they all have 8.8 in front?

I don’t believe the front differential changes whatsoever. There is a internal change with the trimmer, but as far as the case and the size it’s the same.

depends what year
21-23 had option of 9.75 “ 3:73
with 2.7 . I believe the 3:73 only comes
with the 9.75”

When I special ordered my 21’ rclb
I was able to order the 3.73 and to my
suprise it was the 9.75”
without ordering the 2.7 payload package
although I do have the LD frame I believe

Look for a 4x4 5.0 max tow vehicle which will have the 9.75 diff, 3.73 gearing and the strongest frame a 5.0 Ford 150 can have.

Most notable and mostly overlooked factor on the 23 and newer 2.7EB F150's is that they are 6600 or less GVWR vehicles VS 7050 or more for the 3.5EB and 5.0 equipped vehicles. Or 2.7 gets the lighter frame, 3.5EB and 5.0 get the mid frame and 3.5EB and 5.0 Max Tow and HDPP vehicles get the heaviest rated frame.

Prior to 23 a up to a 302a XLT could be equiped with the 2.7EB payload package that came with the 9.75 rear diff and 3.73 gearing along with a 6900 GVWR frame.

3.73 gearing can be found in both 8.8 and 9.75 differentials but generally 3.73 is a 9.75 diff.

thanks for the info. I have a 21 2.7 xlt fx4 but with 3.55 gears. Was mainly just wondering how the 5.0 700+hp trucks where staying together so well and if there was any major differences in drivetrain after engine. My next truck may be a 5.0 but I'm really liking the little 2.7 so far. Getting 4.10 gears and e85 tune next week.

3.73 gearing works good in the 2.7EB.

A 4.10 geared 2.7EB on a tune keep us updated.
