Default Drivers door locked

Recently I attempted to open the drivers door (2024 regular cab) and found it was locked. I tried to unlock it with the key fob and the key. No go. The door lock button would go up and down, but the door would remain locked.
The passenger side door worked fine.
I climbed in the passenger side and was able to open the drivers door with the inside handle. The outside handle remained inoperable.

My wife brought the truck to our Ford dealer for repair.
There was nothing wrong with the mechanism. She was told that it was a "safety feature" and that a sensor must have indicated that the truck was in a collision so the door locked on its own.

I'm I missing something??
First, there was no collision and if there was, why would I want the door to lock not allowing anyone to open the door to render assistance.
Nuts.

So they just reset some rogue computer code for the fix?

That's what it sounds like.
I need to give them a call and ask. She was only at the shop for about an hour.

This makes ZERO sense! There is a mechanical connection between the outside handle and the inside and has NOTHING to do with any sort of "selective" electronic locking...it just is physically impossible. AND the "collision feature" as you describe it is 180 degrees wrong...it UNLOCKS all the doors in the event of a crash so first responders are able to render aid to an unconscious person. So many things wrong with this post...so I guess, "Cool story, bro!"

There is nothing inaccurate about the post. I can attest to the fact that no matter what I did I could not get the outside door handle to work. As to the explanation of what was wrong that came from the service dept.
I HAVE NOT removed the door panel or looked inside myself.
I originally suspected a linkage issue myself. My wife asked service if that was the problem and they told her no. What I posted was what she was told.

If my goal was to post a "cool story" I'm sure I could make up something better than this.

With as much needless electrical **** incorporated into today's vehicles where a simple mechanical lever, rod or cable that could be visually inspected and diagnosed..... I had to ask my above question.
Just today I was thinking about the light switch control not being mechanically connected to a light circuit meaning a $200? trip to the dealer, waiting several hours or arranging a ride home AND back vs plugging in a new switch for under $50.
