Default Drive Mode on an FX4

Morning,
I've finally broken in my 2023 (5500 miles now) and done my first oil change. I'm ready to make a serious pull in this truck to see what it can do, but when I put the truck in sport mode, it also shifts into 4H. Is this normal?

Something is wrong. Did you turn the dial the wrong direction first? If so roll in back and forth a few feet and see in the 4H light goes out. Or push the 2H button.

Nope. Just tried it again, but I did misspeak: it goes into 4A when in sport mode.

That's normal. When you put it in sport mode it automatically shifts into 4A. I just shift it back into 2H. If you really want to have some fun, also turn off traction control.

so it’s possible to put it back into 2H in sport?

Yep. I do it right after it shifts into 4A, although I make sure I am off the gas and not under load when I shift back to 2H.

Make sure the POPO isn't behind you when you put it down. It's not difficult to put the truck sideways.

Am I reading this right? So you put it in Sport Mode and it automatically switches to 4A? That's frickin' absurd. Christ, I thought not having 4A was a minor disadvantage.

Makes perfect sense. In sport mode with 2WD and WOT you will break the rear end free. 4A will engage maximum traction so you can get maximum acceleration instead of just smoking your tires.

Have any of you done a timed pull in Sport WITH traction control on/off? I wonder which way maximizes acceleration best? 4A, 4A Traction Control off, 2 High or 2 High Traction Control off?
I don't imagine mine is the fastest out there . It has lots of toys and options including a moonroof that's gigantic. But it sure is a nice cruise when I need to be somewhere.
