Default door locking with engine on

Hello. I have a 2021 f150 power boost. I know that you can run the air condition with the engine on when parked. I may leave my dogs in the truck on a hot day to run a quick errand. My question is can I lock the doors with the engine on and me not in the truck?

I've locked my doors using the keypad, without the engine running with key fob inside many times. But with engine running perhaps you'll go a check then report back.

I just use remote start when i leave my dogs in truck on a hot day. The truck runs the vehicle ac automatically if its a hot day.

You could try that.

I'm reminded that there is an idle timer on these trucks. Forgot all about it on one hot day last summer when I pulled over into a rest area for a nap with the AC on...Only to be woken up thirty minutes later when the truck shut off. Think it can be shut off....disabling the timer.

That actually depends on how you have the A/C set. You have to have the A/C set to "Auto" for it to turn on with the remote start and I believe it defaults to 72 degrees. It it's not set to "Auto" the A/C will not turn on with the remote start.

You should be able to do it with the keypad. Just turn off the idle timer.
