Default Disable Tailgate Opening while moving

So, took delivery of my truck last night. While walking through the buttons with the store rep, I asked if the gate release would work if the truck was in anything but Park. He didn't know... so after I triple checked nothing behind me, put foot on brake and put it in Drive. Hit the button, and down it went.

Does anyone know if there is a setting somewhere that will disable the button for gate release while moving? It would same insane to me if that isn't there somewhere. One bad poke under the dash to adjust your gauge lighting or something... and you've got a load on the road, or the gate smashing on a trailer mast, etc.

Power tailgate or just the tailgate release?

I know there is an option to disable the power tailgate. I don’t know about the release.

Hope it doesn't drop. read about too many SDs doing that while the trailer was hooked up. Then say Goodbye to your nice tailgate

I hadn't thought to try that, and don't know if the doors were locked when i experimented. Have to try that today.

Just a release, I believe. Unless I've got a toy I don't know about.

Don't have my truck yet but per an article I read on Ford Authority: A beep will sound and the tail lamps will flash as the tailgate is lowering. If the tailgate detects an object in the way, it will power open again.

But guessing that only works if you have powered gate... not just release
