Default Dipstick help

What is the magic secret to putting in the 2 1/2' dipstick in the 5.0 V8. It goes down and with 6" left hits a brick wall. After about 20 tries it might go in all the way. And you got to love that riveted extension. That's interesting.

Any after market stick that works better?

I found the Ford wire dipstick a little weird at first. But soon got the hang of it. Sometimes, just rotating it a few degrees will help it go all the way in.

Yeah I was doing that, but had to pull it almost out and it took many tries before I got it.

It’s a pretty damn long stick I have to say. I usually use the paper towel to hold the mid point and push in from there, then from the actual handle for the second half. But I’ve never had problem of it get caught midway though

It goes in fine until the last 6 inches. Then it hits something. Don't want to force it, but it's not going in. This is my 4th F-150 with a V8 and never had this happen before. And since this version of the 5.0 uses oil checking the level periodically is a must.

Yes, your right, I knew it as I was typing. But no other way to describe it. The facts are what the facts are.

The second hand part way down the dipstick is helpful. As for Oil Consumption, I'm not seeing it. And yes I look.
