Default Deployable Side Step Maintenance

Is there a way to service the deployable side steps? Mine is making a squeaking noise and spraying lube doesn't seem to help. Perhaps they can be removed, or is there a better way to lubricate them?

I use Dirt Bike Chain lube. It stays dry and will not collect the dirt. I pressure wash them and spray the lube on them.

Fluid film works the best.

The people at Amp Research told me to use WD-40 with silicone. It solved my problem (step would not retract completely) . I lube once every three months and that seems to be enough.
