Deciding between F150 2.7 XLT 4x4 and Ridgeline RTL
Guess that depends on the car and maybe even model in the lineup. I often drive 3 hours 1 way to visit friends and family in Western NY state and im always just fine in my 2020 Subaru Forester with its seats. Same with wives VW Atlas now the 2001 Forester I had ages ago those seats sucked.. vastly improved over 19 years lol.
I bought an f150 coming from over 250K in a 2005 Pilot. I fell out of love with Honda engineering and the issues so many were having with the J35 engine, and the 9 speed gearbox. I loved the elbow room of the Pilot which the F150 gives you in spades and much more. As a 6ft2 240lb guy, I need space.
Two years and 26k miles later, having a pick up has been fantastically useful. It's length and height aren't helpful in towns or multi storey parking lots. It's mpg equals and beats the Pilot. I've done many 960 mile drives in a day runs in both and would chose the Ford over the Pilot for that.
It sounds like the Ridgeline would satisfy your needs. But check in with the forums on Pilot and Ridgeline to see how the engine and box are doing. If you buy the Ridgeline, make sure the extended warranty is Hondasure, not some third party rip off. Granger is the real deal for Ford extended warranty.

I wouldn't buy a 10-speed F150 built prior to 9/22, due to the CDF drum change. If you do, be sure to get one that is new enough to purchase a really long extended warranty via Flood/Granger/etc.
It sounds, to me, like a Ridgeline would work for you. If you're happy with the radio/dash on the Ridgeline, I'd get one of those.
Note: The (ZF) 9-speed trans had some teething issues early on. The (Honda) 10-speed from the Pilot would be preferable, but it's not in the RL yet.

It's really NOT a truck as noted in the thread! However it is the the right vehicle for many. I have owned a 78 Civic, 77 Accord 2 door hatchback, 84 Prelude, 87 Accord 4 door, 2001 Accord EX V6 and a 91 Prelude. None of these Honda's were service department queens. Never bought an extended warranty on a Honda. The 2001 Accord with the next gen wheels was a really nice look car.
So in the end its what 2 vehicles have a bed, can fit adults not kids, not car seats, not its just storage room really, in the back and ability to store some fishing stuff I carry almost all year either in the trunk or under a seat or something. and not just carried open in the bed lol. and get what I consider reasonable MPG(i determined that to be 24 or better highway/
there were a few that made the final cut F150 2.7, Maverick, Santa Cruz(got eliminated VERY late like maybe yesterday because of transmission issues apparently with the turbo model, Ridgeline, may even have the new Ranger out by the time i look but who knows with that.and it would have to get that magic 24 MPG highway+ and room for a adult to ride and storage(under seat/behind seat) like the others i am looking at. Dodge 1500v6 also made list still looking at the reliability ratings

Friends have a Ranger Tremor and really like the size, however the rear seating is a bit small.
I had a 1993 RAM W250 diesel(waste gated the turbo), a 2001.5 RAM 2500 4x4 diesel and a 2015 RAM 3500 SRW 4x4 SWB diesel. The 2001.5 had lots on "bombs" putting down good HP and torque on the dyno without rolling coal. The 2015 I just drove and enjoyed it until my wife got ALS and I could not get her from her wheelchair up into the seat. If I had know how quickly she was going to step off the planet, I would still be driving it.
