Default Ctek - Where to Mount?

I purchased a Ctek 4.3 amp, 40-206 charger for my 2025 F-150 Lariat. Some questions:

1. Is it ok to permanently mount under the hood? Seems the heat/cold may have a negative effect.

2. If yes, where did you mount? I see there is a bracket on the driver's side that is above the radiator that seems like it could easily be adapted to mount the charger.

3. Does the charger need to be mounted right side up? I thought I read that in the literature.

Thanks for the information.

IMO i would get a long enough cable to run the plug out through the grille and mount the charger on a garage wall or someplace outside of the weather

I have the CTEK extension cable. It’s permanently attached to the battery positive and a chassis ground.

I’ve ziptied and run the cable out down in the lower front wheel well. My charger is mounted on the wall and I can plug in at anytime without opening the hood.

The plugs are also quick release so if you drive off, it’ll disconnect and not rip out.

The end tha hangs in the wheel well also has a rubber boot to keep out water and debris when not in use.

Yep. Agreed. I grabbed the extension cord and ran the battery plugs thru the grill. The charger stays on top of a waterproof storage box attached to my carport.

Do you guys really not drive that much where you have to permanently mount a battery charger to your trucks?

short trips and the BMS do not play nice with each other, I only drive my truck on average of 10 miles a day, plus on nice days it stays parked in the driveway and i drive my ranger

Yes.

I’ve driven my truck 200 miles since I purchased it in October.

Not my daily driver. It’s for towing the camper.

Definitely mount it in your shop or someplace sorta dry and safe. You can purchase quick connect ends to hook up to your battery and let hang out the grill of you want and extensions... To the person posting a picture of a quick connect that will unplug itself when you drive away, hope that's not it in the picture you posted because that will not disconnect itself without ripping everything apart. A proper disconnect will actually drop to the floor as soon as the veh starts, or a magnetic one that will fall off when the veh drives away..

@Zrock
This is not true, it disconnects without ripping anything apart. I’ve driven away before plugged in.

The CTEK extension clips into the cable, if you were to walk and trip over it, it easily will disconnect without any damage to the clip.

It takes very little force to disconnect.

You may have a different brand or you haven’t tried this.

Its not a true auto disconnect.. One of these days it will not disconnect and then you will be looking at a mess.. I have seen those ones and would never rely on them to automatically disconnect.
