Default Connected Navigation Expiration

I got an email last night notifying me that my access to Connected Navigation will expire at the end of the month. When I went to the linked site to renew I saw that it would be $80 per year to maintain access. What exactly will I lose if I do not renew? Will the Nav system stop working all together? $80/year seems pretty pricey for a nav system that really isn't that great to begin with. Has anybody else gotten this notification?

I received the same notice. I believe the only thing we would lose is the Ford navigation screen. The Android Auto/Google Maps//Waze should still work because they are standalone apps. Honestly, I've tried using the Ford navigation instead of Waze, and it didn't have roads or destinations I needed, even though they have been around for years. I didn't realize it was going to be $80. I'll be watching this thread to see if I'm missing something. Thanks for bringing it up.

Were you not supposed to get 3yrs included? Or is that something different? Could have sworn I read that somewhere, though I'm in Canada.

I do not think you will lose access to ford's navigation all together, you just won't be able to use the 'connected' features and functions.

Yes I believe so. Real-time traffic and weather. I've seen a really cool looking weather radar overlay that looks useful. I haven't received my truck yet so I can't comment on much more.

I found this on my save build:
Connected Built-In Navigation
IncludedAvailable Connected Built-In Navigation is fully connected to and informed by internet-based data with maps that are frequently refreshed with the latest available traffic and construction information, ensuring you get up-to-date info for your routes.
Includes a three-year prepaid subscription.†

†Available Feature. Navigation services require SYNC®4 and FordPass Connect (optional on select vehicles), complimentary connect service and the FordPass app (see FordPass Terms for details). Eligible vehicles receive a complimentary 3-year trial of navigation services that begins on the new vehicle warranty start date. Customers must unlock the navigation service trial by activating the eligible vehicle with a FordPass member account. If not subscribed by the end of the complimentary period, the connected navigation service will terminate, and the system will revert to embedded offline navigation.

Connected service and features depend on compatible AT&T network availability. Evolving technology/cellular networks/vehicle capability may limit functionality and prevent operation of connected features.

FordPass App, compatible with select smartphone platforms, is available via a download. Message and data rates may apply.

So apparently there is standard “Connected Navigation” with a 90 day complimentary period and also an optional “Connected Built-in Navigation” which comes with a 3 year complimentary period. I’m not sure what the difference is between them though.
