Question Connected Nav & Siri

I use Siri a fair amount for non-nav purposes (ex: sending texts). I use my phone for nav. My Connected Nav is up for renewal - Ford would like another $80 from me to renew it for a year. I'm wondering whether the Siri non-nav functionality will disappear if I don't renew Connected Nav.....and if Connected Nav provides real value beyond what I can do with an iPhone for nav.

Thanks!

Well it all depends on which Nav you use. Google/ Waze/ Apple Maps or the Ford Sync Nav. If Google Waze Apple Maps are what you use then no you will not notice any difference. If you use the Ford Sync Nav then you will loose your Nav but keep maps.

I kept my Ford connected Nav subscription because where I live in less then 10 minutes in three different directions I have no Cell coverage. I know I can down load the maps ahead of time, but that would I would have to know where I was going to end up on any given trip.

Thanks for replying.

I use either Apple Maps or Google Maps. Driving out of cell coverage would be an issue, though around my home it's not. That said, I want whatever nav system I'm using to work wherever I go!

It's not clear to me that Ford is saying that it's nav system continues to function where there's no signal....but as that works in your geography it must be so.

It works to the point of, you will have a map with roads showing, but you can not enter a destination or look for XYZ type shops etc. Try it without for a few months and see, if you can live with it then keep going if not just pay up a get it back. As far as I know there is no penalty if you cancel then come back a few months later.

Thanks for the explanation. I suspected that this might be the case.

Additionally the Ford Connected Nav has the most up-to-date maps. I've had road construction projects open up new roadways and they appear in my nav within days.
