Not a bad idea. I would dump some out also... Keep it in the hash.

Also know that these engines, unlike some car engines, can regularly see MOAB angles, and the engineers know this also. They engineer that in also...

thanks for all the info guys, needless to say I am quite disappointed with my dealer for continually overfilling my truck.

You don't know the dealer is overfilling. Do an oil change yourself, putting in the prescribed amount of oil. It seems I remember reading there is a specific, recommended method to follow when checking for the proper oil level on the 2.7. Check the owner's manual and follow it.

With my truck the oil level reads exactly at the top hole with six quarts of oil added during an oil change.

Remember the measure twice cut once thing..... The ground we park on is rarely level. So don't hesitate to measure it on two different surfaces. No two are guaranteed perfectly level.

I can't imagine any difference in the oil level on the dipstick with the leveling kit described. Inside the pan that would only be MAYBE 1/8" difference. Sounds like the dealer is overfilling it. Do it yourself if you've not already and use the prescribed amount of oil, see where it is at on the dipstick. From then on, THAT is your standard level.
