Default Ceramic Coating, worth it?

Looking at upgrades to my truck and Ceramic Coating comes up a lot. I've never had it done to a vehicle before. Usually just get my vehicles detailed and waxed regularly.

Is this just as good as regular waxing? Price local for a full sized truck is about $2k.

Depends what kind of condition your paint is currently in. Some ceramic costs can skyrocket quickly if extra prep work is needed (beyond the original quote).

I think a ceramic coat is much better than wax. Much less maintenance due to having to wax often and better protection of the paint. $2,000 sounds a little steep. I can get it done in Nashville for $1,000 - $1,500.

Yeah the plan is to get it done the same week I get my truck.

Just had it done to my truck. Cost was only about 1100 for a 5 year coat. It looks amazing. When they prepped the surface they were able to get off a bunch of marks that had accumulated. And now the paint is so smooth and it just sheds dirt and water. I do have to go back yearly for a top coat at 150 a pop.

Alao had them wrap the gloss door pillars. I had swirl marks on them despite never touching (guessing maybe dealership did that) and the wrap worked perfectly to make them look new and stay new. Only cost me additional 50 bucks or so. I highly recommend that as well.

I had mine coated the week it came in (first week of July), and so far, so good. Six months and she still looks like she was freshly waxed. They did the painted rims as well (Sport 20"), and so far they don't seem to be collecting any brake dust. Granted, half of her miles are going to and from the local touchless truck spa on the weekends. If it goes through a Minnesota Winter and the tons of salt it brings, and looks as good as it does now on her first birthday, I'll be sold.

Had a 3 or 5 year coat plus paint correction done on my ‘15 lariat, loved it at first but it seemed like it only lasted a few months. Maybe it was a bad product or application, but not something I plan on doing again given the cost.

Not all synthetic motor oils are superior.
Not all ceramic coating services are superior.

What ceramic coating did you use that we should avoid?

Absolutely. I had my 392 Daytona done, made a HUGE difference.
