Catback system on Powerboost, please help!
Hello Ford family,

During a recent camping trip, I met a fellow F-150 owner and he was telling me about the benefits of installing a Catback system on his truck, increased airflow, more power, slight mpg increase etc. Has anyone installed a catback system on their Powerboost? What are the pros and cons? Do you recommend it? Thank you in advance.

Considering the headers, turbos and cats would be the biggest restrictions in the exhaust, I highly doubt just a cat-back system did anything the person claimed to you. Even if it did price more power, it wouldn't be enough for you to feel, especially on the stock engine tuning.
There is this little part in the exhaust that is used as a heat ex-changer to heat the PB battery in colder climates and that very same leaky part has sidelined many a PB waiting for a fix.

The electric hybrid part will in noway benefit from a freer flowing exhaust system.
Will hands down put my money on any stock PB just kicking the living snot out of any stock engine F150 with a freer flowing cat back system.

I am working on a delete for the PB heat exchanger. It'll require an electronic dongle to fool the wiring into believing that the gate is still there and functional AND a coolant hose bypass. This will still trigger coolant temp expected vs achieved mismatch codes and CELs, but those should not trigger unless it's cold and the exhaust gate is opened. My plan is to reset codes and get the truck inspected in the summer and just live with the CEL. MegaOhm is working on a dongle for the delete, and the coolant hose bypass is easily made from heater hose. I'll post a full writeup when I'm done with it whether it works or not.

The only change will be the sound.
I put a Borla S-type on my 2019 3.5. I now own a Powerboost.
I do not recommend. There is no objective performance benefit, only sound, and with the powerboost turning on/off frequently while driving it will just be weird.
