Default CarPlay audio issues

Hi, my dad just got a 2021 Powerboost XLT with the 12” screen. When using CarPlay the audio is low quality. If set in the audio surround format the audio will only come out of the center channel on the dash. If set in stereo it will come out as stereo but at a lower quality than the Sirius XM audio.

Is anyone else having this problem? Do you guys know any fixes? Thanks.

My stereo is also low quality (302A FX4). Just today I heard static when playing Bluetooth which has never happened in prior vehicles. Your not alone I think others have mentioned the low quality in other threads as well.

The weird thing is that everything works fine when not listening from CarPlay. He has the B&O system.

Which B&O... standard (10-speaker?) or Unleashed (18-speaker)?

XLT only has B&O 8-speaker, no unleashed option.

I have a Lariat 501a with B & O 8 speaker. I listen to music from YouTube through Android Auto with no issues.

that’s good to know. I will have to experiment with it when I get a chance. I wonder if it’s linked with CarPlay.

on some older threads I saw that some people had the same issue with audio only coming out of the center channel like the system thought it was a notification from the phone and not music being played.

I will have to add my phone to his truck and see if the same thing happens or maybe reset the radio or something.

If you want better CarPlay sound plug in the phone. Plugging in sounds better than Bluetooth.

it’s not necessarily sound quality. By default the sound only comes out of the center speaker in the dash.
