Nevermind, I walked back out to my truck and hour later and the Alexa icon was now there. Must have taken a bit of time to install. So now I can say "Alexa" but it just says "I don't have a connection" or something like that.

 

As soon as I got the update that added Alexa, the first thing I did was shut it off.

 

I find it useful for rando questions.... "What time does Costco close?", "What's the weather tomorrow?" etc.

 

My 6 yr old loves chatting with her. All the random questions. Alexa, how old is the universe? Alexa, tell me a joke ....

 

I’ve got it (her?) in my ‘23. It will no longer read news and give sports scores since the 30 day trail is over, but what all will it still do? It will read me the weather and tell me where my Amazon packages are at if I have something on order. But what else?

 

I don't know anything about a 30 day trial. My wife's has worked for 8+ months now. But.... I just found out you can control Google Maps and play Amazon Music with Siri & Car Play. You just have to be specific, like "Siri, play Highway to Hell on Amazon Music" etc. So no real need for Alexa anymore.

 

I've got lights and other stuff (garage doors, door locks, alarm system, etc.) linked to Alexa in the house -- I can use Alexa in the truck to control all that stuff from the road, so everything is ready to go when I pull up to the house.

 

can you expand on this? Which integration do you use for the garage? I have a myQ garage door and an XLT 302a. Trying to voice control my garage door since I don’t have any physical button installed in the truck.

I think you have to use IFTTT to link Alexa with MyQ.
