Default Brake Issue

Has anyone had issues with their brakes? Ever since I bought my truck I thought my brakes sucked. My 2013 Ram's brake were great, when I traded it for my F150 I noticed I really have to stomp on the brakes when stopping quickly. Towing obviously is alot worse and I have never felt comfortable with the way they feel. Of course the Ford dealership says there is nothing wrong. I've thought about doing a bigger brake kit but there so expensive. Has anyone else had issues and what did you do to solve it? Thanks.

Brakes on my 2025 are great.

Did your truck have/need the brake booster recall done?

I never got a recall for that among all the other recalls it's been in for.

Mine are excellent on my '22. The feel does leave something to be desired, but the function, force, and short stopping distance are impressive when needed. Have you ever tried a series of full-apply, emergency braking that fully engages the ABS? These big trucks can flat out stop if needed. I've used mine as the "brake-check" vehicle in one of the exercises during a Tire Rack Street Survival course and it performed extremely well, stop after stop, all afternoon.

Compared to the '18 I had, the '23 is much better. Haven't had any build up on the rotors yet. I am approaching 30,000 miles.

Things to know about the FORD Braking system:
1. The system is Biased to use the rear first. >>>>>>> as such (will wear) the rear Pads much faster to get the following features. And provide safer straight line stopping by using rear Bias.
2. The Pads need high cold friction to serve ABS, Hill holding, Anti-Lock control, Traction control, Wet/Snow mode improved traction via the ABS, Park and other system controls as needed.
3. Pads should be OEM to have the above cold friction ability to serve all the functions, as designed.
4.There is no compare to older makes and model that do not do all these functions.
5. If any of these functions are deemed missing, there is a fault to be investigated for.
.
My 2018 XLT has all of the above and great braking with OEM pads.
Good luck.

The brakes on my 2015 F150 XLT were terrible until I put PowerStop Z36 drilled and slotted rotors and their brake pads on. By comparison, the OEM brakes on my current 2022 F150 XLT have been spectacular. A huge improvement over my prior truck. I won't hesitate one second to replace my brake parts with OEM parts on this truck. I'm approaching 78K miles on the original brake pads and rotors and expect to make it through to my next state inspection in late March or April without needing to replace them.

Yes the brakes on my 23 were 💩. The pedal felt spongy and almost all the way to the floor at times. I had it for service and they kept saying it was normal. For that and other reasons I ended up trading it in for a 25 and I will tell you the 25 feels so much better in every way drives like a much better truck. I was so pissed about my 23 I wasn’t going to buy another Ford but after a bad experience at the Chevy/GMC dealer and the Ford dealer calling me I ended up in another one 😂

My first impressions were my 2018 F150 XLT ( that I purchased new) brakes were better than my new 25 Ford F150 XLT. The 18 brakes seemed more sensitive and grabby with light pedal pressure. But the more I drove the 25 and towed my boat, I realized the brakes are fine. Just a different feel. A little more pedal pressure needed to get into the power booster. But never a doubt when needed.

My 2023 brakes are very good, including when towing. Sounds like dealers are refusing to see problems on a few trucks with specific issues. (What else is new?)
