Default Bolt Shear Recall

I had the recall done on Friday. What exactly did they do to fix it?

Did you get a letter from Ford very recently telling you that the recall service was ready for your truck? If not, pull the center cap off your rear hub and look to see if the bolt is still at the end of the axle; if it is, you just had the original CSP (CSP 22B34) done that Ford issued in 2023, not the final recall action (Ford Recall 23S65). As far as anyone here knows, Ford has not released the final recall remedy from the recall announced early this year. We received the original recall announcement letter from Ford which said we would get another letter once they have released a recall action to their dealers. It seems that some dealers are not aware of there being two different actions out on these trucks and are completing the CSP and telling customers that their recall is complete when it is not. Go onto the NHTSA website and enter your VIN in the recall search tool to see status of recall on your truck.

By the way, NHTSA says Ford has not identified the remedy yet:

Was hearing a rattle in the right rear wheel area and took it in for a look. Axle bolt fell out when they removed the wheel. They had to order parts and hoped to have it done in one or two days. It will be interesting to see what their "fix" is. That's a big old bolt to be rattling around in there. Hopefully it was contained the the hub cap area and no damage.

Was that for the 2017 F150 you have on your signature or a different F150?

Ford is swapping out the half shafts and topping off the fluid. The half shafts are unbolted and removed from the each end of the axle. They do not remove the broken stud and replace bolt. Google search the Recall numbers RossRR posted.
There is a Sticky trend that has been going on for a couple years now regarding this matter.
