Replaced factory h6 to Kirkland h7. BMS reset doesn’t work anymore.
key on ignition off
high beam 5 times
Brake 3 times
nothing…
for reference, I have successfully did BMS reset in the past, just not today after replacing the battery.
Re-used battery cloth from h6, it’s tight but it fits, it’s like the 40 year old you try to put on jeans from when you were 20 year old.
It can be temperamental. Any hesitation can keep the reset from getting accomplished.
The reset can also be done by simply disconnecting the battery for >30 minutes. Only the negative lead needs to be removed from the post
So if I’m replacing my battery if I just take the old one out set the new one in place have a beer or two then wire up the new one BMS reset will be complete?
@markwang :
1) since you you have XLT, maybe you want get H8 from Costco instead of H7. The tray is the same, double check - it should fit (price difference is very small, but you get more capacity and CCA)
2) you can get a proper sleeve for the battery from Eastgate Ford - their prices are the lowest in GTA (you will need one if you go H8)
3) Forscan allows to reset BMS. As a matter of fact, Forscan will allow you to check if there are codes in memory, and reset modules (like a reboot)

I've never seen that method mentioned or confirmed on the forum before. Just the hack, FORScan, or dealership methods.

It is NOT a instant flash of the battery sign there is some delay before the battery sign flashes.
Works on my 22 XLT 302 2.7EB and the spouses 19 Escape.

thanks for the tips, problem is costco only has h8 energizer for $319 CAD, or h7 energizer for $268 or h7 kirkland for $186. I actually already went ahead and bought KL3Z-10A687-C heat shield for the H8 and end up leaving it on the shelf for now. I know more amphour will let it drain longer, but I'm more on the side of trying a fresh start and see if a new battery will perform better, even with the OEM H6 battery, the "low battery" message doesn't annoy me that much, was really looking for a "Christmas gift" for the truck if that make sense. lol
How do I reset BMS in forscan? is there a video or a thread talking about it?
Thanks
So I got my laptop and obdii reader ready to forscan reset BMS, and thought I’d give flash + brake method another chance and it worked…
When I tried the same thing last night, I can’t even get this battery icon to show up on the dash no matter what, she must’ve felt better after a night of sleep.
thanks for all the input from everyone!

I think you are missing a step. I think Headlights need to be turned off. Mine kept changing themselves to Auto, make sure they are set to the full OFF position after turning on the ignition (pressing start button, brake off).
