Default Block heater for powerboost?

So the ford dealerships want 250 for a block heater and cord not installed. Pretty sure they would want another 250 for install.
My question is does the

Kat's - 11815X 11815 Cartridge Style Engine Block Heater fit and is it good?

thanks guys

Check with a non dealer for a better install price.

-20 isn't unusual in Minnesota. I run 5W-20 syn and rarely plug in my heater. If I had issues, I'd switch to 0W-20.

This raises the question, what if you plug the truck's block heater into the truck itself? KM

Lol you sure as heck could but the motor turns on and off so it would stay warm and you wouldn’t need the block heater.

Or would it pull power from the extra battery and not draw enough to start the engine? I do not own one and this is an honest question.KM

you have to put it in generator mode which requires the truck to be on for the plugs to work.

I thought the engine only started as needed cycling on and off, seems this way in videos and some anecdotal references. I understand the truck is on not sure how much a block heater draws nor how much drain is needed before the engine kicks on. Still would need a timer to set the heater as they should not be on more than 3 hours. KM

yes, the truck has to be “on” it shuts off when batterie is charged then back on when it needs to charge again. So block heater would be useless.

I can't speak for the folks up in Alaska, but it does get a bit nippy here in Minnesota. I've seen -40F, but we usually will have a -15-20F snap every year. I've never had a fuel-injected vehicle not start due to cold. My work truck ('19 Ram Towmaster) starts every morning and is sitting outside. For a Powerboost, I think I would be looking at some sort of battery warmer before I worried about the gas engine starting.
