Default Bilstein Really that Good?

I recently purchased a 25' STX SCREW stock, coming from a 19' XLT. The ride is different and it feels like the rear end is lofty, if that makes sense. Id like to calm it down a bit.
I am considering Bilstein 4600s for the rear. Are they really that good, will they noticeably make a difference? Or am I just throwing money away?

Everyone will have an opinion, but mine is that Bilstein makes some of the best shocks around. That said, each of their shocks has their place and you want to ensure you match your needs to the series. If you just want to stiffen the rear a bit, the 4600's are a good choice. If you ever plan to level the truck, an inexpensive route is the 5100 series, which offers you level struts for the front and matching shocks for the rear. I went 5100's on my gen12 truck and they were great. Here's an article shock surplus made on the difference(s) between the two.

They may have other articles that could send you down a different patch.

i did 5100s , was fearful of them being too stiff. they're not bad at all. the originals ('22) were already leaking. the goal in my case was to keep the back from bouncing when pulling a camper, yet to test if that helped.

I replaced my stock rears with 4600’s at 100k. I really didn’t notice any difference. Still don’t 10k later.

They are good leaking in the box when they are brand new. I’ll never buy them again.

Had my 2022 front done to level in late 2025, love it, wish I had done it sooner.

I installed Bilstein 4600 in the rear of my 2024 PB at 15k miles 2 months ago for the exact same reason you mention and they settled the rear end down nicely. I will probably leave the front stock for awhile even though I would expect Bilsteins up front would also be a noticeable improvement.

Had 5100s on my previous 2017 and it calmed down the rear. I have the same truck, 2025 STX Screw and just added Road Active Suspension on the rear. What a nice difference it makes.

Truck feels planted, not stiff or firm. Just nicely controlled. I’ll throw some 5100s on eventually, but my stock shocks only have 4800 miles, so I’ll use them for a bit.

I like the 5100s better solely due to them not being bright yellow.

Some will say you need to spend $1000+ on rebuildable shocks. I see no point if you have to take them off and send them away.
