Bilstein 5100 height setting
Next week I will be installing Bilstein 5100 on my 2021 5.0 4x4 supercrew cab. I love the stock height but at the same time I want the best height setting for the 5100 ride quality. So which setting do everyone recommends for the best ride quality?
The Bilstein's are going to be a noticeable improvement in ride quality at the stock setting. I have had two sets (many years ago, not on an F150) and they are well worth it.

5100 fronts are height adjustable by choosing one of 3 spring-perch locations. That does nothing to alter the shock valving, nor does it alter the spring rate. Therefore, there is no difference in terms of damping or 'springing' at any ride height these shocks can accommodate.
If you choose the higher spring perch location (lift the front of the vehicle) you will slightly raise the vehicle CG and roll-center, and will transfer a slight amount of weight to the rear. IMO those differences will be imperceptible.
Bottom line, within the range of height adjustments available with the 5100's, there will be no perceptible difference in 'ride quality' between those settings. Choose the height that looks best to your eye without concern about optimizing or detracting from 'ride quality'.
FWIW, I installed mine at the stock front height and love 'em.

I just had the front done on my truck this week. I chose the 2-inch setting, and the truck looks great as it is now not nose down. Ride quality is better than stock. If you don't care about leveling out the front, then why not choose the 4600 which is not adjustable.
