Default Bakflip Mx4 ?

Hey
Anybody know if a Bakflip Mx4 from a 15 to 20 year will fit a 21 .
On the Bak site it says they are different part numbers .
I have 6ft7 box . Well the truck is on order . I have the cover ,picked it up yesterday. The one I have is for a 20 with 6ft7 box . Do I need to take it back ?

I have moved my MX4 from my 17 to my 19, then my 19 to my 21. It has fit all of them fine. I know they have different model numbers and I contacted Bakflip about it, they said the side rails are slightly different from the last gen (I think because they pushed the wheels out 1/2" on each side). But I haven't noticed any fitment issues and I am in Michigan which has had nearly daily rain lately, plus when I drove it on our road trip to Indianapolis a few weeks ago, we were driving out when the huge rain storm came in (the one that flooded the freeways), and had next to no water intrusion in the bed.

If you can easily return it and get the '21 version, I probably still would. While I haven't had any issues, if you really care about the bed staying dry in all conditions, you will likely have an easier time of it with the newer version. If you would have to ship it back or whatever, I wouldn't bother.

I have the 5.5' box.

I moved my MX4 from 2017 to my 2021 with no issues. Everything fit just fine no water issues at all.

Yeah . I talked to a rep at Bak ,he said same as above about the bed being a half inch wider may affect seal . I called the place I bought it from and they are willing to swap it out for the 21my . I figure why not , no big deal at this point . The guy at the store also said the previous year part works fine . But it is expensive at least to me anyway ,may as well get the best out of it I can . If I had one on an older truck I wouldn't buy a new one .
Thanks for all of the input

Dammit! Sorry to see this.
I ordered a Powerboost with a 6.5’ rear bed because I WAS going to take off the tonneau cover from the 2020 Platinum with a 6.5 bed and keep it for the ‘21 Powerboost with what I thought was the same 6.5’ bed

But this top also will not fit because of the 1/2” variance from 2020 to 2021.
I do not have the Bak MX4 but I have it’s clone probably made by Bak for The Linex Company.
Its called Truck Gear LXP hard folding tonneau cover coated with Linex sprayed aluminum panels. Cost me $1300 last July. Unfortunately it won’t fit on the ‘21 and KBB only shows $420 for a hard top cover on trade-in.
So this will fit all 15-20 F150’s with 6.5 bed.
I’d like to get $875. I’m in Central Florida. What classified would get more coverage? Shipping is probably out of the question though.

So I got the cover swaped from the 15 to 20 model year to the 21 .
I was met with a strange response at the store . I went in happy they were willing to swap it out. They couldn't figure out why I was bothering to swap them since in their opinion they are the same exact cover .
I said that I spoke to a Bak rep on the phone and by that time I had also received an email from another rep from Bak both stating that they don't recommend using the older one . So I want the best fit I could get with this cover. Well that set the guy at the store off for about a half hour rant about how much he knows about covers .
At the end of it he told me that first he wouldn't buy one ,it will leak ,the part number difference means nothing. Also they put the 15 to 20 on the 21 all the time . Glad I opted to do the install myself. I would never have caught this and if it leaked more than I expected I would be upset with Bak ,not realizing the fitment issue .
I'm not sure what happened or why this was upsetting to the guy .
In the end the store gave me what I paid for ,so I was a happy customer. But then got trouble for it . So that store and that whole chain of stores has lost my business forever just because of the way the guy spoke to me and my wife for that matter , she was with me for the swap . I have never seen someone give a customer what they want and treat them like crap for it . Just mind-blowing .
Bak Industies was very helpful and quick responding to my questions . I am looking forward to installing this cover when I get the truck .
