Many of you have probably already figured this out but I'll post anyway. I figured out the the Surround setting enables the headrest speakers. I'll admit on the Stereo setting the system was above average but the Surround setting fully meets my expectations. I had tinkered with it in the past but yesterday I realized the difference. If you haven't tried it I suggest it.

 

Yeah, it's odd it isn't enabled by default, at least it seems anyway.

 

I haven't heard a thing come out of my headrest speakers. I have been disappointed in the B&O Unleashed coming from a Toyota with JBL.

 

Apple CarPlay and Apple Music you can set to lossless setting on iPhone and it plays in Spatial audio aka Dolby Atmos
It seems to make it sound better you can be the judge.

 

Unleashed + Apple lossless spatial audio is pretty impressive.

 

I have the standard B&O in my Lariat, and when switched to surround there is too much DSP. Sounds like a bunch of reverb and muddies up the sound. I switched mine back to stereo.

 

It wasn't even on the previous B&O Play, and judging by all the posts through the years nobody seems to know or wondered why it sounded like crap. You have go in settings and turn surround on and then adjust treble, bass etc. Night and day different, otherwise the B&O Play sounded like some **** stereo from a 90s Hyundai lol

 

If using apple music search "spatial audio" and play through surround mode on b&o unleashed! Tons of music in the spatial audio format on apple music. Plus, as mentioned above, on your iphone be sure to change the music audio quality settings. Completely changed my opinion of the unleashed system. Highs are crazy good and I could actually hear the ceiling speakers above the front seats for the first time. I could always hear the headrest speakers but they are even better now. I was a GMC guy previously and thought the bose system couldn't be beat but I was wrong! Also, surround mode took me a little bit to get used to but its definitely better than stereo mode with satellite and FM too.

Now if anyone can find a fix for the backglass rattle you will be a hero! Just a little bit of bass makes it rattle like hell. King Ranch with sliding back glass.

 

the audio source makes a big difference in the sound quality. If you are trying to listen to music on XM forget about it.
